Carbon fibres are just that, long thin lightweight strands of carbon that need to be converted into a cloth in order to turn them into a fishing rod. When making fly rods, each long strand of carbon fibre needs to be held together with a reinforced resin system that provide strength and impact resistance.

This carbon cloth is then wrapped around a mandrel to form the blank and subsequently baked at high temperature, melting the resin to create a full strength fishing rod. What is Carbon Nanotube Technology?

Applying Carbon Nanotube, or CNT technology creates a stronger resin distribution system, this helps eliminate any weakness in the blank to create rods with significantly increased strength and improved impact resistance, without adding any significant weight to the blank. There are two key advantages provided by silica nano spheres. First is the even distribution of the nano spheres throughout the resin providing equality of strength throughout the blank leading to crisp and clean rod actions. The second advantage is that silica nano spheres resist compression forces better than any other known material.

The improved compression characteristic also greatly improves impact resistance and durability. Here is the rod I tried a Discovery Im12 nano 67wt 9ft fitted with 6wt floating line, with 2 false cast and 1 shooting cast I was seeing it lay on the water a 12ft leader bit over 60ft of line and 9ft from the top guide down to the reel , and that was my first cast. 10 cast in more and more line was being laid out 90 ft , then my son wants his rod back.
